Overview
The most important Daoist remains in Hebei are the Beiyue Temple at Quyang (Yuan dynasty), Wahuang Palace in Shexian, and the Daodejing Stele-Pillar at Longxing Temple in Yixian (Tang; see the steles entry); in addition, Zhengding, Baoding, and Chengde preserve Ming–Qing City God temples, Zhenwu temples, and Guandi temples. Temples such as Pule Temple outside the Chengde Mountain Resort belong to Tibetan Buddhism, but the Qing emperors also built a Guandi Temple in Chengde (a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level). This entry gathers together the other Daoist remains of Hebei as an appendix.
