Overview

The twenty-eighth of the Thirty-six Lesser Grotto-Heavens, the “Heaven of Cinnabar Radiance,” governed by the Immortal Perfected Wang. Identified with present-day Mount Magu in Nancheng, Jiangxi, traditionally the site of the Immortal Maiden Magu's cultivation of the Dao; the calligraphy of Yan Zhenqing's Magu Xiantan Ji (麻姑仙坛记, Record of the Immortal Altar of Magu) of the Tang is a celebrated masterwork, and the mountain has the Xiandu Temple, the Longmen Bridge, and other sites.
