Overview

The twenty-second of the Thirty-six Lesser Grotto-Heavens, titled the “Heaven of the Jade Watchtower and Precious Tablet,” governed by the Immortal Perfected Qian. Identified with present-day Julou Cave in Beiliu, Guangxi, a limestone karst cave; tradition holds that Ge Hong of the Jin sought appointment as magistrate of Gulou in order to practice alchemy here, and the cave preserves cliffside inscriptions from the Song dynasty onward.
