Same as above · The Grotto-Heavens and Blessed Lands system took shape in the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties; the roster of names was fixed in the Tang by Sima Chengzhen and Du Guangting. Present-day identifications are conjectural.

Overview

The eleventh of the Thirty-six Lesser Grotto-Heavens, titled the "Grotto-Heaven of Mysterious Virtue," governed by the immortal Zhang Jilian. Today it is Mount Taibai in Shaanxi, the highest peak of the Qinling range, a renowned mountain for Daoist cultivation since the Tang; the mountain has the Taibai Temple, Baxian Terrace, and Dayehai (lake), among other sites, and Li Bai and Sun Simiao are said to have traveled here to gather herbs.
