Same as above · The Grotto-Heavens and Blessed Lands system took shape in the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties; the roster of names was fixed in the Tang by Sima Chengzhen and Du Guangting. Present-day identifications are conjectural.

Overview

The ninth of the Thirty-six Lesser Grotto-Heavens, titled the "Heaven of Cinnabar Mountain and Crimson Water," governed by the Perfected Diao Daolin. Today it is Mount Siming in Ningbo, Zhejiang, a site of Daoist cultivation since the Jin dynasty; a Tang-dynasty legend tells of the couple Liu Gang and Lady Fan ascending to immortality here, and the mountain has such scenic sites as Cinnabar Mountain and Crimson Water, the Four-Window Cliff, and the Baishui Palace.
