Overview

Wun Chuen Sin Koon traces its origin to the Wun Chuen Sin Koon at Baiyun Cave, Mount Xiqiao, Nanhai, Guangdong (built in the twenty-seventh year of the Daoguang era of the Qing, 1847). In 1944 Daoist masters including Wu Lihe founded a hall on Des Voeux Road West in Hong Kong, and in 1975 purchased garden land at Ping Che, Ta Kwu Ling, New Territories, where the Hall of Patriarch Lü was consecrated in 1986. It belongs to the Chunyang branch, dedicated primarily to Lü Dongbin, and conducts scripture recitation, rites of salvation for the dead, and other ritual observances. The hall is noted for its gardens, with a memorial archway, a lotus pond, pavilions, and a bonsai garden; it has held a chrysanthemum exhibition every year since 1986, and its summer lotus and winter chrysanthemum exhibitions are seasonal events in the New Territories. It provides elderly care, free medical services, and educational services, and obtained a license for a private columbarium in February 2024. The hall preserves scriptures, ritual implements, and couplets brought from the ancestral temple at Mount Xiqiao, providing physical evidence for the study of the cross-border continuity of Cantonese and Hong Kong Daoist halls.
