Life
Zhan Shichuang, a native of Xiamen, Fujian, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Daoist and Religious Culture, Sichuan University, and formerly a professor at Xiamen University and director of the Institute for Laozi Studies at Sichuan University. His fields of research include Daoist literature, Daoism and the study of the Yijing, and Daoist health cultivation. He has written History of Daoist Literature, Daoism and Women, Studies on the Relationship between Yijing Studies and Daoist Thought, Fifteen Lectures on Daoist Culture, and Daoist Science, Technology and Cultural Health Practices, and has edited large-scale series such as Essence of a Century of Daoist Scholarship: A Compendium and the General History of Chinese Religious Thought (Daoism volume).
