Life
Louis Komjathy, an American scholar of Daoism, formerly an associate professor at the University of San Diego, is an ordained priest of the Longmen Lineage of Quanzhen (Daoist name Xiujing). His research focuses on early Quanzhen Daoism and Daoist practice; his doctoral dissertation was published as Cultivating Perfection: Mysticism and Self-transformation in Early Quanzhen Daoism (2007), and he produced an English translation of the writings of Wang Chongyang as The Way of Complete Perfection (2013). He has also written The Daoist Tradition (2013) and Daoism: A Guide for the Perplexed, and has long advocated the position of the ‘scholar-practitioner’ in Daoist studies; he founded the Daoist Foundation.
