Life
Guo Wu, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Daoist and Religious Culture, Sichuan University, formerly taught at Yunnan University. His fields of research are Jingming Daoism, Daoism in Yunnan, and the relationship between Daoism and local society; he has written A Study of the Complete Book of Loyalty and Filial Piety of the Pure and Bright Way: Examined against the Background of Song and Yuan Society (2005), Daoism and Yunnan Culture, and One Hundred Questions on Daoist History, and his study of Jingming Daoism is one of the most systematic monographs on that tradition to date. He also contributed the section on Jingming Daoism to History of Chinese Daoist Thought, and has studied the religious interactions between Daoism and ethnic-minority regions; his research on Daoism in Yunnan also addresses interactions between Daoism and the religions of the Yi and Bai peoples.
